Peek at My Week {Punctuation}

I’m going to tell you right now…I was STRESSING out about what I was going to do this week. It’s not quite time for Stone Soup and Thanksgiving stuff is just not even on my radar.

Are you ok with me admitting that sometimes I just get completely overwhelmed?

That happened last week while I was trying to get my plans together for this week.

I know I have a scope and sequence and standards and yada yada yada, but I think the whole Halloween hangover thing got to me just as much as it probably did the kids {I wouldn’t know since the day after was Saturday…mwahaha}. We also have election day on Tuesday and the kids won’t be there.

This is why I love having smart people to rely on when I can’t get it together myself. This week, we are going to look at living/non-living, punctuation, the concept of fewer/more than, and we are going to dig deep in to Reader’s Work-Shop. I have a lot of friends that are going to help me make all of my week’s dreams come true 🙂

I really love Michelle’s Punctuation Unit. This isn’t going to be the only time that I focus on punctuation. I actually have something up my sleeve when we come back to re-visit this concept in a few weeks.

We also read these books to go along with some of the activities:

I also found this punctuation video on YouTube that has a very Schoolhouse Rock feel to it.

Tomorrow, the students are going to write about their Halloween. If you need a little writing somthin’…here is a freebie for you to grab to let your little monster/fairy/Elsa/ninja people write all about it.

  1. I love all of your punctuation books and resources! Thanks for sharing!

  2. I was having the exact same problem! I don’t know what to do for science/social studies this week other than Election Day, and I don’t know what story to read for comprehension this week. We need to review characters and introduce setting. I only have plans up to Wednesday. I also feel that it’s a bit too early to start Thanksgiving stuff. We have conferences tomorrow-school for half-day and conferences from 1-8. Then a full week of teaching!

  3. Kristen Burdick says:

    I don’t know if you have had conferences yet, but mine are this week. I tracked back on last week and report card info and guided reading levels were due. I have a practicum student for the next four weeks and so I had a training. So, I can have empathy for you being overwhelmed. Your plans look great and enjoy your PD on Tuesday.
