Teacher Week: Favorite Subject

It’s the last day of teacher week! Favorite subject to teach and why.

I would have to say that the biggest reason that I went in to teaching was not just for the love of kids, but for my love of books. I have ALWAYS been obsessed with books since a young age. My library is my happy place at school. My favorite part teaching is instilling that love of reading to my kids. I make a big dramatic deal about the library. If I drop a book, or a kid drops a book, we act like it’s a baby and pick it up and hug it.

It’s all very silly…but the kids eat it up and they become little book worms by the end of the year.

I’m always a little over the top with my book displays…but I also am buddies with the librarian and she hooks me up. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I have my fair share of books. It’s good to be friends with the right people 😛

Any literacy activity, is my favorite. I love shared reading, read-a-louds, literacy stations…and so on.

The best part of teaching kids how to read is when they look up at you after reading (thinking they can’t read…) and saying, “Mrs. Hall! I just read that book!”. And they are always so proud of themselves.

Seeing the progress that Kindergartners make from August to May is nothing short of a miracle.

Don’t forget to link up for the last day of teacher week! I’ve loved reading everyone’s posts. Happy Friday!
