A Week of Giving Thanks- Traditions

thanks_linky

I was almost wondering what my little blog was going to do this week while I was off for Thanksgiving Break. I sort of kind of crashed my parents beach vacation before Spring Break. They said, “We are going somewhere warmer”. And my response was, “Hope you have a second room for me…I’m crashing the party!”. I may or may not have left my husband at home to work until Wednesday. #badwifey

Then, my friends at Blog Hoppin’ came up with a fabulous ides. A week long linky party 🙂

Today is traditions. One of my most favorite traditions is making Gingerbread houses with my sister and my cousins at my aunt and uncle’s house. We have been doing it for as long as I can remember. Now that half of us are grown and the other half just about grown, she still  has us get together to make gingerbread houses. She bakes the pieces and makes the gingerbread pieces from scratch.

It is ALWAYS a competition as to who as the best house. My Uncle Tim walks around the table and commentates and usually gives the winning house to my sister or my cousin Sophie. Which, is usually justified. I get distracted and I’m lucky to get the other half of my house finished.

We just always have the best time and now that we have some significant others involved, we have let them in on it. It is our holiday kick-off and it’s something I don’t think I’ll ever outgrow. Out of all of our family traditions, this one is a very special one.
