Jan Brett!

I’m finally done! This was by far my longest and most extensive unit I have made yet! It’s probably because this is my most favorite author/illustrator. I LOVE Jan Brett. I try to get my kids to enter the contest every year so she will come to our school library. One year, we got a signed poster from her. That was pretty cool. Also, if you write her a letter, she writes back!
I also came up with literacy stations in color and black and white. We are running out of color ink at our school so now we have a strict limit on what we can and can’t print because of color. Of course, it looks better if you can print it in color, but printing color black and white always turns out blah. I did, however, print the cards off in color.
Like, I said before, if you write Jan Brett a letter she will write you back. There is a template for your kiddos to write to her. I tried to incorporate as much story comparing and writing as I could! I got to 30 pages in this unit and had to stop but I could have kept going! If I come up with any more, I will be sure to let you know! As always, you can find this at my TpT store.
If you are still looking for some plans to go along with MLK this week, check out my MLK unit!

It’s perfect for a day or two of MLK!
Hope you are enjoying your Monday off!

  1. I am shocked that you are able to print in color at school. We don’t have that option. I have to do all my color printing at home. I go through ink cartridges like no tomorrow. 🙂

Cute Jan Brett unit! Have a great rest of your day off!
