Music on the brain

Music in my classroom is an everyday occurrence. During different times of the day, we do a physical movement. It’s just a time for kids to get up and be kids. They dance, walk around or do silly dance moves. Sitting for 90 minutes in the morning can be excruciating for five and six year olds. Get those little feet moving if you don’t already! They need it.

My kids love love love Roger Day. Sometimes I just need a break from the Tooty-Ta and I find myself tapping my feet along to these songs. The kids love “Mosquito Burrito” and “Dream Big” and I have to admit that those are two of my favorite songs as well! All of his songs are wonderful and the kids request to listen to his music all the time. I have to say, if you don’t have it then you need to buy one and see what your missing. These are also great CDs to have playing in your classroom when the kids come in for the day.

My Dad has built me an awesome reader’s theatre stage for my classroom. He also stapled a white board to the front of it so the kids can write the title of the play and who is starring in the play. My job today is to go to Lowes and get paint and make it colorful. My Mom and I are going to make curtains. I’ll post a picture of it when I get to school. I’m very excited for it because the kids are going to be over the moon. They are all little performers so I am hoping that this will be more motivation for their reading.

Happy Teaching!
