Five for Friday…we’ve been busy!

I feel like these Fridays are sneaking up on me now that are at the end of school and we have so. much. left. to. do!ย
Our state testing started today so it has been a deserted ghost town in the halls for the past 3 hours.

However, we have been having a little party in our room today ๐Ÿ™‚

1. We are having our final compliment party today because our compliment chain has hit the floor!ย
Every time the entire class gets a compliment or a “panther paw” from their special area or they get a compliment from another teacher in the hall, they earn a link to the chain. Once the chain hits the floor, we get to have a celebration. I usually let the kids pick. They have voted for no shoes in the classroom, extra recess, PJ day, or eat lunch in the classroom. Today, we ate lunch in the classroom and wore our PJs since it’s our last compliment party. I also surprised them with pizza for lunch ๐Ÿ™‚
2. We have been working so very hard on our “How To” Books. I did a mix of lessons because there were some from Lucy Calkins I liked and some from Deanna Jump and Deedee Williams that I liked. I really liked the organization of the “How To” unit from the Writing Through The Year unit. The kids did a great job and they loved creating their own books!ย
This was days and days of planning and putting together! We read a couple of “How To Books
ย ย
The first thing we talked about were transitional words and finding something they know how to do! Some of them wanted to pick topics on things they knew nothing about. There was a lot of conferencing and talking going on. They also edited their work before they started writing.ย

This is what their writing pages looked like inside of their books.ย

They loved sharing and getting to read their writing to the class. I can’t believe how big they are getting!ย
3. Which leads to my book that we read this week. Boohoo…
You can read my post about it from earlier in the week and grab a freebie while you’re at it!
4. Tomorrow, hubs and I are going to see Jimmy Buffet!ย
5. Guest blogging??
I have reached out to a couple people and haven’t heard back yet. (got one no but no big deal!).
ย I would LOVE to do some guest blogging in the next couple of months. I know that some people are very protective and don’t want anything to do with it and that is totally ok! My thought is….I don’t have a post for every day of the week so why not let someone else do the work for me for a day haha. Just kidding, I think it’s a great way to expose yourself to some new eyeballs!ย
ย If you are interested in having a guest blogger or you would like to guest blog, please comment or e-mail me kickinitinkindergarten@gmail.com
Happy Friday
