First Five for Friday on Summer Break!

It’s been my first week off from school and guess where I am?
Vegas for kids…aka Disney World.
1. So that’s my number one this week. I was hoping that it wouldn’t be so crowded this week because some schools were still in session and some were out. Low and behold…wrong. It was craazzzyyy lines. However, I still love the magic you feel when walking in to Magic Kingdom and seeing the castle. It just reminds me of being a little girl.
2. Before I left for Disney, I got to check off a summer bucket list item! We went to the vineyards (the Kinder team) and had a blast! Usually when you put teachers and wine together you can’t go wrong. Not everyone was able to come, but we celebrated the end of the year for them :-p
We even invited the hubsters to join us…lucky them!
3. Ever since I started teaching, the kids have done presentations for every month of the year. I am almost finished with my unit that I hope to have up on TpT by the end of the weekend. People are more terrified of public speaking than they are of dying…true fact. What better time to start kids feeling comfortable speaking to a group of peers than in Kindergarten? They typically turn out to be pretty funny too…
It’s a thing…I’ll post about it later with a video included!
I just wanted to get you all antsy with anticipation!!!
4. If you haven’t made the switch over to Bloglovin’ yet, give it a go. I did a tutorial earlier this week to get you started. Go read that if you are reading about Bloglovin’ for the first time and your experiencing short rapid breathing. Friends have been pitching in to give advice and suggestions. We will all help each other through it so don’t panic!
5. T-minus 4 days until we leave for Dublin and London! I have been reading my Rick Steves book cover to cover about all of the fabulous things to do. I am soooo excited! I am also confident that I will be able to make it through Europe with no problem after a week of Disney. My feet are going to need a few days to recover!
Have you been to either place? If so, please let me know if there is a must see and must-not-miss-it experience! Neither of us have been to either place so we are open to any suggestions!
Side note, let me know if you would like to guest blog one of the days I am gone. I would love for one or two people to keep my little blog alive while I am gone 🙂

Comments

  1. London! Our family did a house exchange in France a few years ago and stayed in London for a few days. As soon as we got off the train we took the Hop On bus around London, and I’d highly recommend as an orientation activity. The people doing the talking on top of the buses are extremely witty and fun. Have a great time!

  2. So jealous you are off to London! I have never been, but would love to get there someday. For now I will be content to have lots of beach days here on the island. Have a fabulous trip!!

  3. OH I love both of those cities SO VERY MUCH! IN Dublin you MUST go to Murphy’s Ice Cream! Such awesome weird flavors! http://www.murphysicecream.ie/flavours.html. In London you have to go to Portobello Market! One of my favorite places to just browse in the whole wide world!

    • I am starting to write all of these down on my phone so I can remember it all. I don’t think I read about either of these in Rick Steves so I appreciate it!

  4. I am SO jealous of your trip, Elizabeth! I’ve been to both places a few times. Dublin is by far my favorite place on Earth! Definitely hit up Temple Bar for amazing live music {and a few pints!)} The shopping on Grafton street is amazeballs! Blarney Woolen Mills has the best Irish “gifts.” Oh, and you must eat the Special K while in both places – I have no words for how delicious. Every time I’ve gone to Europe, I’ve brought an extra bag to stock up on their Special K!

    • First of all, I love that you said amazeballs…secondly, I am so glad you love it that much. I have heard from everyone that has been there that I won’t want to come back. I can’t wait! Thank you for the suggestions! They have been typed in the iPhone so I don’t forget!

  5. I haven’t been to either place, but it sounds like a fabulous trip! Have a wonderful time!

  7. Hi there,
Lived in London for 3 years and worked in Picadilly circus. Food is super expensive as are the attractions. Lastminute.com has great offers for everything that you can buy on the day. If you want to hit up a theatre, you can often get returns tickets on the day crom the theatre.
Don’t try taking the underground or bus everywhere, you’d be surprised at how close everything is. Walking will usually be faster, ie Picadilly circus to Traflager square only is about a 5 minute walk. From there you can walk to Big Ben and Southbank, sorry for rambling. If you have any questions, you can email me.

    • Thank you for the suggestions! I am so glad that I found you and your fabulous blog! That is so amazing that you teach in London. What an incredible adventure! You aren’t rambling…you are a huge help! Thank you again!

  8. I’ve been to London but it was 30 years ago so I’m thinking things have changed.HA! Your trip to the vineyards looked like fun. I can’t imagine having that many teaching partners. I teach in a mountain community and I am the only k teacher! This year I have 16 kids!!!!!! Have a wonderful and safe trip! I’ll miss your posts!

  9. Alright world traveler…have a blast!! 🙂 Take lots of pics so I can live vicariously through them! LOL

  11. I thought you were in my world for a bit- being near Disney World, but no vineyards here. I have been to both Dublin & London. It is fun to walk around and explore, taking photos along the way. Have a wonderful trip! I hope you will post some pics when you get back!
