Color Word Giveaway and Prepping for Vegas!

I finished a new color word unit!

My husband said that the front cover looks like a dress I would wear.ย
That’s probably true. It would make for a super cute dress and it could double as product promotion :-p
I am not going to lie about the fact that I was never a big fan of “teaching” color words. I felt like it was too preschool-ish. Now, it’s on our report card and so it might be important to at least have them in a work station or for morning work. I originally had this labeled as just morning work but then figured…well you can figure out when you want to use it.ย
There are also two different versions of the pages. If a student has no idea what the color word is and needs to focus just on the word, they would do the first set of words. If the student knows the word, then they can do the second level. There is a little math and number writing incorporated in the second set of words.

I also like having a consistent page where you only have to explain it once (who am I kidding, I teach Kindergarten…three times at the least).

I am planning on using it for the beginning of the year.
It’s up to you how you want to use it.ย

I would love to give one away. While I’m at it, you can win this and another product of your choice from my TpT Store. So all you have to do is enter and check out my store to see what else you might like ๐Ÿ™‚
You can enter until Saturday and then I’ll pick a winner before I leave for Vegas!

Mrs. Stanford just posted this yesterday and I love the idea!
Are you on instagram?
Helloooo….you ought to be! It’s way fun!
ย ย

I went to school yesterday and got all my stuff together for Vegas!

The tabs are out of control but the handouts are unreal!
I don’t know how I am going to cram all of this information in to my brain in 4 days but I’m going to try.
I have also been chatting with some people that are going and I am so excited to meet everyone face to face.
I feel like it’s the first day of school…I hope they all like me!

  8. I chant the color words with my kiddo’s and then they find things around the room that match the chant that we spell that day! This packet looks great!

  9. I usually spend a week on them at the beginning of the year. I teach first and you would hope they know their colors coming in but a lot of them need a refresher. We make colors by mixing primary color in icing and then eating it. That’s our favorite activity!

  10. We do a two week color unit using the Frog Street Color word songs and books. We ask the students to dress in the color of the day each day. We start the second week of school before we really start hitting the curriculum and while we are still working on learning procedures and expectations. It is a great way to introduce all of that. ๐Ÿ™‚

I am so jealous about Vegas!!! I want to go!!!! I know you will have a blast!

  17. We do teach color words! We actually have color weeks at our school where our whole school participates in a “color of the day”! The students (all of them) love it.

  18. I teach color words using Brown Bear and I also incorporate it in my word work center and my poetry center. We typically spend 2-3 weeks on color words at the beginning of the year depending on the class and the students. I also use color by number worksheets during the rest of the year once a week as morning work. –Shana
