Friday Five

Today is the first day with my entire group of kinders. Comin’ in hot. I am so thankful for all of the great classroom management tips I have picked up from other amazing teachers or like Deedee says “The monkeys will be running the zoo.”
1. I had totally forgotten about this, but I was featured on The Curriculum Corner this week…or this month. I’m not sure how long it’s been there. However, I l.o.v.e. Jill and Cathy that run this web-site together. I was able to sit with them at a dinner in Chicago during Blogher. Wonderful ladies and stellar teachers. I am beyond humbled that they thought I was “Spotlight” worthy. Thanks girls!
2. We finally got through all 110 assessments this past week. We used this packet to help test those little ones coming in I loved having something that was readable and easy for everyone to use. We could just pick it up at any table and test the student. It made it easy on all of us!
3. Here is a little sneak peak at a back to school unit I am working on. Hopefully, I can get it done in time so that it’s actually “back to school” but it may not happen. Just being realistic here.
I love to read “I Like Myself” and then take a picture of them and have them tell me why they are special. It always turns out super cute.
Since my pack isn’t done, grab this one for free 🙂
4. In order to keep my room somewhat put together, I took pictures of everything that has a “place” in my room or that is a center. This way, the students have a visual for what “cleaned up” looks like. I always get so frustrated when I go back to the art station, puzzles or home living and it’s not picked up but the kids think they did a perfect job. Well, it’s because they can’t remember what it looked like before so shoving anything anywhere works well for them.
I took a picture of the pictures I took 🙂

I posted up pictures of how it should somewhat look when they leave that station or center. I just hope that it can be more visual for my kiddos.
5. Apparently…there is a sale going on this weekend.
I can’t wait to make a dent in that wish-list I got going on…
Have fun shopping 🙂

  1. Hey! I love your idea to post pictures it *should* look like. I think it would really help the little one to remember and do it how it should be! Great idea. I will likely steal this one in the future!

  2. Love your assessment pack and first day emergent reader! xoxo
    Happy Friday!
