I was hoping that I would wake up this morning and everything that happened yesterday would be a dream.
It’s not.
I am headed to Hunstville, AL this morning to go check on one of my very best friends and her son. He was in a wrestling match yesterday and got a severe neck injury. So severe, in fact, that he was rushed to the E.R. where they have given him a paralysis prognosis. He is undergoing many surgeries in hopes that he can regain feeling in his limbs. Emily, Hunter’s Mom, has been one of my very best friends since I started teaching. We think of each other as sisters, go on vacations together, and have taught together ever since I started. My prayers are still that he proves the doctors wrong. I am leaving in just a few minutes to drive to Hunstville with the rest of the Kindergarten team. Any prayers that you have today are very needed!
This week, we start our study of holidays around the world. What holidays do you study with your kiddos? I found some great books at the Scholastic Books Warehouse Sale yesterday to read this week.
Before I head out the door, this week is the week we remember Sandy Hook. Bloggers all over the country are remembering this horrific incident by Random Acts of Kindness.
“As educators, we remember and honor our fallen colleagues and their students from Sandy Hook School. We honor them each day in our classrooms in which we continue their dream of teaching our children. We honor their memory with our service. Join with teachers everywhere in committing random acts of kindness to show our love for Sandy Hook.”
All during this week, please promote the RAK on social media. Use the hashtag: #love4SH
Thank you again for your thoughts and prayers today for Emily and Hunter!
I am praying for Emily and Hunter, Elizabeth. I am SO very sorry. Prayers, prayers, prayers are being said. I am so glad you can be there for her.

Love you girl! Let me know if I can do anything. Keeping everyone in my prayers….including you! It is hard to see someone you love go through something like this.
Elizabeth- I just put it together that it was Emily who I met at the k conference. I am sooo sorry and am praying hard for her and her family!
Love the RAK idea! I will have to think about this! Found you through Mrs. Wills’ blog. 🙂 Have a great week!
