It’s been a week to say the least. I am still shocked that what happened is still a reality. Hunter is leaving Huntsville today to head to Shepard Center in Atlanta. If you don’t know what I’m taking about, you can read my post about Hunter here. I have been beyond amazed at the community of people here and all over the country that has pulled together for Hunter.
He is going to show us what a miracle really is.
1. The story about Hunter leads me to my #1 for the week. Hunter is a 15-year old boy who is motivated by all of the “likes” that he is getting on Facebook. If you don’t read the rest of this post or do anything else today, please just go “like” Prayers for Hunter Garstin on Facebook. If you are moved and compelled to do so, please share it with the community of followers that you have through your blog or your friends on Facebook. He needs us. There is nothing more powerful than the power of prayer!
2. I found a great new positive behavior management tool that my kiddos have loved learning about. They have been listening to this CD all week. It’s been a great way to discuss positive self-talk and building self-esteem. If you click on the picture, it will take you right to the Rafflecopter where you can enter to win your own copy.
3. Tomorrow is the 1 year-anniversary of Sandy Hook. I remember the feeling that I had that day and it will always be something I think about while I am at school. If you are a blogger, please share this image (as a stand alone post) on your blog tomorrow along with this quote:
“As educators, we remember and honor our fallen colleagues and their students from Sandy Hook School. We honor them each day in our classrooms in which we continue their dream of teaching our children. We honor their memory with our service. Join with teachers everywhere in committing random acts of kindness to show our love for Sandy Hook.”
4. We have been studying and talking about Holidays Around the World this week. Yesterday, we read about Las Posadas and traditions in Mexico and Latin America.
The kiddos painted this piñata and wrote about it. I used Rachelle’s Holidays Around the World Bundle to help with the writing. They turned out so super cute! If you need more ideas, maybe this freebie could help you? 🙂 Click on the picture of the above to grab it for free!
5. Finally, I am blessed. In the midst of darkness, I am surrounded by light. I work with amazing people. I have a loving family and my health.
God is good.
My perspective has shifted this week to what is really important. This is a picture we took this week for Hunter. We all wore red in his honor (he’s a Bama fan) and took this picture to post on his FB page.
I have been continuing to keep Hunter in my prayers. He sounds like one amazing young man! Thanks for the freebie. Have a great weekend!!
