Literacy Station Cards {Giveaway}

I would have been embarrassedย to have shown you the {ahem}Comic Sans Word clipart literacy station cards that I have been using for the past five years.

I just never made time to red0 them. I like using them for literacy stations because they are visual and when the kids learn to read them, they know what their task is. For example, if they are at “Rhyming Road” then they know their station will have some sort of rhyming activity. I have changed a lot of things in my room but this is something that I have stuck with and something that will stay unless I find something better.

I cut and laminate the cards. I use one card to display in the pocket chart with their pictures. I punch a hole in the other card and attach it to the paper basket with a binder ring. That way, the students can find the matching picture card and locate their baskets quickly. I pretty much say “find your station” and then I go sit at my guided reading table and they move to their stations and I pull reading groups. Once they learn the system, it stays that way all year. It’s like clockwork.

Boom.

To keep the cards organized and easily accessible, I use an index card organizer and alphabetize the cards. Once you have them all organized and set up, you are good…or at least you are for five years ๐Ÿ™‚

    This summer, I primarily hope to simply enjoy the R & R =). One of my favourite daily rituals is to take a long, leisurely walk, and then curl up with a good book on my condo balcony when I return <3.
