Sooooo….you can see that I have been a little MIA lately. I am going to go ahead and preface this by telling you this has absolutely nothing at all to do with anything classroom related. I figured since it’s the holidays nobody was really keen on it anyways so I figured this was a good time to dust off the keyboard!
I had a little turkey on Thanksgiving.
6 days late.
On my Dad’s birthday, right in the middle of everyone’s Thanksgiving dinner.
She likes to make an entrance.
Amelia Frances Hall was born November 26, 2015 at 5:01 p.m. She was 8.6 pounds and 21.5 inches long.
We have been playing dress up ever since.
I finally started having contractions the night before (Wednesday) and Jon and I went to dinner and then to see the new James Bond movie. I knew that I was going in to labor and that it probably wouldn’t be a quick process. It is so not like the movies where your water breaks and then bam you have a baby. It’s more like, “oh, I think I have gas”…no wait…that was something else. And then that lasts forever and ever it seems.
I woke up around midnight and knew it was time to head to the hospital. We had about an hour of sleep and I don’t think we’ve caught up since that night.
There I am just a bouncing away on the labor ball while I breathed through my contractions. The doctor came in and said they were going to break my water so I said hit me up with the good stuff. I got my epidural early that morning and we got moving right along.
I may or may not have had “Who Run the World” by Beyonce (of course you already knew that) playing when she was born. I was so paranoid that “Partition” or “Drunk in Love” would be on that I made Jon put the song on repeat so I think we actually listened to it 5 or 6 times in a row. I only had to push for 20 minutes. Having a baby is a piece of cake. I’m already ready for baby #2 (kidding…sort of) 😛 Just don’t tell my husband ha!
Being a Mom is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I love this little peanut more than I could have ever even imagined.
We are kind of a hot mess.
And we haven’t caught up on sleep.
But she’s pretty stinkin’ cute and I don’t even mind being covered in spit up.
We got some amazing pictures done for her newborn photos.
I love nothing more than dressing her up. We have a little fashion show almost every day. It’s like having your very own baby doll. One day, she is going to look back and probably not be too thrilled with me but oh my word…I can’t help myself.
I made an IG account for her so that I wasn’t blowing up your teacher feed with baby pictures.
I’ll be back after the holidays with actual teaching ideas and activities 🙂
Merry Christmas! xo

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I love the “real life” posts- especially when they are filled with the most precious little girl! Oh my goodness- she is just a doll!!!! I wish your family all the very, very best of everything . You have so many years of love and laughter ahead of you. How wonderful. I will never forget being at the store when my first daughter was 2- and the checkout lady saying, “Before you know it, she’ll be 12!” Well- now she is 25! It really does go that fast. <3
