Blog Hoppin’ Time Savers

I don’t have kids.

My husband is the chef between the two of us.

I have someone that cleans my house and my parents live in town.

I don’t know that I am qualified to do a post about saving time? Do you want to strangle me? I kind of want to…so it’s ok if you do too.

I feel like I am a little qualified because I grew up swimming year-round and in college so time management is sort of my thing. I try to squeeze in as much as possible. Ask the other teachers on my team…I am a machine.

Here is my laundry room every Sunday. Ironed and ready to just be pulled off the hanger. I am in such a daze in the morning that I can’t put an outfit together to save my life. If I had to pick out my clothes in the morning, I would probably just end up at school in my leggings and a t-shirt since that’s my go to on days I don’t have to actually get “dressed” (a.k.a. Saturday and Sunday). I also pack my lunch and have it all packed for the week. That way, I don’t have to take it to school every day.

I only have to remember it once…instead of five times.

Sorry the picture is a dark. My laundry room doesn’t have the best lighting for a good photo opp. You may be asking, “Does she even iron her own clothes?”.

Rest easy.

I iron them all by my little self. Except for that one thing in there that goes to the dry cleaners…they do that. If I really wanted to give you a time-saver, I’d just tell you to take it to the dry-cleaner every Friday and have them do it for you. HA! Kidding…a little.

For school, I plan the week before. I have to have my plans done before I walk in on Monday morning. I was a bad blogger this Sunday and went to a football game instead of getting my plans up for Deedee’s Peek at My Week Linky. Part of it is because we don’t have kiddos at school today. Here they are (click on them to see them in google docs)!Slide1 Slide2

There is always, it seems, something that pops up on Monday mornings. The copier always decides that it would like one more day to rest and will undoubtedly jam. I will spend a good 15-20 minutes wrestling with parts of the copier I didn’t even know existed until I finally say..

I mean really, nobody has time for that.

I get those copies done the week before (and by me I mean my wonderfully fabulous T.A.) . They are stored nice and neat in the Sterilite Storage Bin I have right next to my desk. securedownload (14) I know a lot of people use book holders, but there is nothing worse to me than floppy paper. I am a bit OCD I do believe.

Rings make life so much easier. I love rings because the kids can do it themselves. We have a crazy 6 day rotation specials schedule. I can’t keep up with it so I let the kids keep up with it. Anything that they can do saves me time. I just make the flipping of the rings the job of the calendar person. They know in the morning when they come in to flip the ring over so it’s ready to go for the day.

You know what else I do that makes me a little on the cray cray side? I load my Keurig up the night before. I run in to the kitchen first thing in the morning so I can smell coffee when I walk back in to the kitchen when I’m done getting ready. I don’t know if this is for saving time or for sensory feel good. Probably the latter. Who am I kidding? I do it for the smell. It does save time though!

I am a planner.

I always have been.

I pretty much plan for my plans.

I can’t wait to see everyone’s posts about their Time Saving Tips. All of us at Blog Hoppin’ hope you will link up this week! Head over to Blog Hoppin’ to join in with your tips and tricks.

  1. You seriously crack me up!! 😉 You need to invest in some wrinkle release spray to save even more time!!! I rarely iron!!! I put my clothes on and douse them in that spray. Then, while I’m drying my hair, my clothes dry!! Ha!

  2. I am definitely a planner, too. Add two kids into that mix and I’m ironing, pulling outfits, and making lunches for all of us! (the night before of course!) Glad to know I’m not the only one who needs all their ducks in a row ahead of time.

  3. Great post! I love Sweet Brown and your storage containers are adorable!

  4. Loving the Sweet Brown shout out! And yes, I will admit, I’m a little jealous of your housekeeper! Lucky! 🙂

  5. I love your blog!! Do you have a editable copy of your lesson plan template? I would love to start creating mine on my computer 🙂
    Thanks!

    • Thanks Maria…I would be happy to e-mail them to you! You can just edit them by adding text boxes. Deedee also has a great format if you want to check hers out. They are probably way better than mine 🙂
