Good Morning!
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I went to register for all sorts of baby goodies with my Mom and we had a cook-out with friends last night. I was the perfect weekend but now I’m back to working on my presentations and teaching swim lessons for the week.
You know those ideas that you have during the year and you use it but think, “I’ll just make that later.”? This is one of those little projects. At the beginning of the year, our babies are on. the. go. I have a little saying that they love and we act it out each time we plop down on the carpet.
Here’s how it goes:
I feel like it gives them a quick reminder that not only do I want their little legs folded up, but they also need to put their hands somewhere other than everywhere else 🙂
So we do the good ole’ criss cross applesauce routine, then I have them stretch up and pretend they are grabbing apples. Then, let them clasp those imaginary apples together and shake until they get those wiggles out. Then, for as long as it will last, have them put their hands in their lap. After they get pretty good at it, they sit down and automatically do it themselves.
Since I am building up cheers and chants, next year, I’m going to have a leader for cheers and chants. That way, it will eliminate kids just shouting out and doing the chants over and over. These things can backfire…just so you know 🙂
Hope this is something you can tuck away for the beginning of the year. If you are coming to my behavior and management presentation in Vegas then I’ll have more ideas like this to share with you!
Perfect!
Love the chant. Looking forward to trying it.
I love that! And I like the idea of a chant leader. Please share the chant collection you come up with!
