The first school I taught at came up with this idea and these problems build on one another and get harder throughout the year. I think that you and your students will benefit from them all year. They can be modified to meet the needs of your students. I typically copy them front to back. Problem solving is a huge component of the new Common Core standards. As the kids solve the problems, I have them circle the important information and underline the question. You don’t have to do these problems on Wednesday, but calling it “Wednesday Word Problem” does keep it consistent throughout the year!
