This is a big day for me!
It’s my first time ever to link up with 4th Grade Frolics for Monday Made It!
I made something!
All by myself!
I even made an extra special trip to Micheals and everything. Blogland has inspired me to craft it up at bit.
Here’s the deal though…I am not a craft kind of girl. I know there are a lot of people out there that love to do crafts with their kinders and put it in their lesson plans and etc etc. I do some of it, but you people blow me out of the water.
As I was working on my new unit based on the books by Jan Thomas (Rhyming Dust Bunnies) I wanted to think of a way to incorporate a craft but still make it purposeful. I can’t just make a dust bunny and have them go stick it in their backpacks and then be done with it.
So…that’s where the pen idea came from. I thought ok, I can still do a little craft but they can use their dust bunny pen to write down rhyming words or do their read and write the room with it. I couldn’t justify just making a dust bunny that doesn’t rhyme! What a tragedy…
So I am sharing with you part of my new unit that still hasn’t gone live yet. However, I am giving away one of them
I ended up not using the black felt. I think when I let the students make them this year I will let them decide if they want to use it or not. I didn’t because I was done with burning the tip of my finger…
The only thing you probably need hot glue for is gluing the dust bunny on the pen. Other than that, I would just recommend Elmer’s glue and let the kiddos do it themselves.
So I finally got my unit done! I am so excited because I haven’t put anything up in about a month and I was ready to get the creative juices flowing. Like I said, the directions were part of the unit but I shared them with you all just because I think they are so darn cute!
If you don’t already have these books, you have got to get them! The kids love them and it’s so much fun to introduce rhyming with.
Now of course, you have a chance to win the unit. Just enter the rafflecopter below and I’ll pick a winner later this week!
I love the rhyming dust bunnies book for teaching rhyming and your unit goes perfect with it! I also love using Dr. Seuss books to teach rhyming too. Love the giveaway! Thanks!

Oh goodness, there are so many good books!! Like everyone else, Dr. Seuss is great and so are nursery rhymes! We did a fun mini unit with our library media specialist using nursery rhymes. The kids had a blast with it and it was so much fun for me too! 🙂
Your dust bunnies are so stinkin’ adorable by the way! 🙂
