Happy Earth Week! I didn’t get a chance to post my lesson plans on Sunday so I thought I would jump on here and share some of our earth day activities that we will be doing this week.
Since plants and earth day kind of mix together well, we learn about plants and earth day in the same week.
First thing in the morning, we make these necklaces to wear during the day.
I love this plant pal idea. The kids put the plant pals together and then bring them home to grow. You can click here or on the picture to see how to make them.
Another project we love to do on earth day is walk around the school and pick up trash. Students decorate this little coloring page and then glue it on a brown paper bag and we walk around the school together and pick up small pieces of trash.
We also write about how we are going to help the earth. We read books during the day about recycling and what earth day means. During writer’s workshop, we brainstorm ways that they can help the earth. Then, they pick one of those topics and write about it in detail.
Here is one of my math tub activities for the week of Earth Day.
You can find all of these earth day activities (plus more…) in my Earth Day pack. I’ll have it on sale through Friday!
Happy Earth Day!
