If you are anything like me (plus the other hundreds of thousands of teachers) at the beginning of the year, then you are swamped. You are eating fast food, sleeping negative hours at night, and running around like a mad woman until the beginning of the year dust settles.
The amount of laminating that takes place at the beginning of the year is absurd!
I am a bit of a (ahem) control freak, so this was hard for me to conceptualize. I’m getting much better 🙂
We can’t and shouldn’t try to do it all. If there is any possible way that you can get some extra help then you should. You aren’t more or less of a teacher if you ask (or like me and you beg) for help.
I know it’s difficult for some parents to get to school, but it doesn’t mean they can’t help you! Get to know your parents and you will know which ones you can trust to not lose every name tag or literacy station piece. You have parents that you can rely on, and by all means…do it! Most of them are happy to help!
Another K teacher was sending home cutting and other things that could be done in clasp folders. I made my own as well and it has saved me HOURS. If you make 5-6 of them, then you can have at home things floating back and forth between home and school.
Laminate them and slice the opening so you can put things in there, and you have your own little helper.
Don’t send home things that you would be devastated to lose.
All you have to do is print off one of the following template, glue it to the folder, laminate it and find some helpers!
Click on the link and/or the picture below and you have a few options to pick from. After you download the PDF, there should be a space for you to type your name.
This is a perfect way to get parent help. I am also a control freak when it comes to certain things. I always have parents asking how they can help from home and I send a lot of things home in plastic ziploc bags. I love this idea so much more. Thanks for sharing.
The Teacher’s Backpack
I love this idea! I wish my son’s school had this. I was just saying how I felt like a “bad” mommy because I’m not nearly as involved as I’d like to be because of work 🙁
This is GREAT! I was sending my materials home in ziploc bags last year, but this is such a great (and cute) way to stay organized. Thanks for sharing!
