Is it just me or is this week better than Christmas!?!? I’m not a huge Halloween buff or anything, but for some reason…I just really love this week at school.
The bookshelf in itself is exciting.
It might be the books that I love the most about this week. The Little Old Lady, Stellaluna, Creepy Carrots…there just isn’t enough time! We also have our second oral presentations this week. The kiddos are doing their presentations on a favorite vacation.
I actually started our new rotations on Friday so I was able to snap a few pictures of what we are doing in literacy stations and math tubs this week. Since we have been working on tally marks, they are doing this Halloween counting tub. You can also hang them up around the room to make it a count and write.
For this tub, students have to match the number to the correct ten frame. There is a recording page to go along with it. The matching part seemed to take kids awhile on Friday so I’m probably going to ditch the recording part. It works some years and other years not so much 🙂
Pumpkin Part, Part Whole. Always a concept that needs to be covered and reviewed. Students cut out the numbers and glue down the correct amount in each box.
We love Deedee’s Fun for Fall Activity Pack! This is one of the activities that we are using in a math tub this week. I introduced solid shapes a few weeks ago so, again, keeping it fresh in their brains via math tub! They spin the spinner and color the corresponding Halloween object.
For literacy stations, they are hunting for Halloween words, typing costume words and creating a spooky coloring book.
For this book, they trace over the color and Halloween object word. Then, they color the picture and match it to the correct page.
That’s part of our week! I feel like I never have any good pictures to show for Peek at my Week so I’m glad I was able to snap some on Friday. Of course, these aren’t ALL of the stations that we do. You can find these stations and activities in the following units.
Before you go, don’t forget to enter to win my new Tally Mark unit and the book Tally O’ Malley!
Have a great week friends 🙂
